Home Sweet Homeschool

What comes to mind when you think of homeschooling? A house full of children wearing matching outfits sitting at the kitchen table reciting the same lesson.

Our home is not the set of "The Sound of Music". Our days are just not that pretty. Homeschooling requires time management and organization yet it also requires us to be flexible when our plans have been changed because life happens.

I have homeschooled my children for 16 years. Does that make me an expert? No, I am afraid not. I am an expert at homeschooling my children and only my very own. Every homeschool family has to figure out what works best for them. You will receive advice from everyone and it will be good, bad & sometimes just plain negative.

Pray. Pray about every decision you make when it comes to educating your children. Every January I take the entire month to pray about the following year and I ask God if He wants me to enroll my children in school or continue homeschooling them. This has helped me with doubt brought on by those who have good intentions but have discouraged me from homeschooling my children. A word from God will block out the voices of those who question your decision and your ability to homeschool.

My youngest is entering the 2nd grade this year. I have two in college and a sophomore in high school. I will be sharing my triumphs, failures and other situations that only God has brought me through. Many homeschool moms ask me the same questions and I hope to provide answers and encouragement with each post.
