Books Come Alive!

READING CAN BE FUN WHEN
BOOKS COME ALIVE!

Literature studies are a great way to build a child's vocabulary. There is always something new to discover beyond the story line in any book when you read to your child.

I call it "thinking outside the book".

Introducing Miss Rumphius.

Books Come Alive! lessons include ten vocabulary words and an important fact that may be new to the student or a great review.

Teaching the Lesson

Children are chosen to become a word that is found in the story. When they hear their word in the story, they hold up their word for everyone to see. This helps the student remember the new vocabulary word and meaning that was introduced at the beginning of class.

Science was incorporated in this study as we studied the parts of the plant. The Students were given an artificial flower and were instructed to place their fingers on the different parts of the flower while viewing the flower diagram in the lesson.

For our craft we painted Lupines of blue and purple.

Then of course we had to do something to make the world more beautiful!
We planted Lupine seeds in a small flower pot to take home and watch them sprout and grow.
